Transferring your License
Your purchased license is associated with your computer and the
directory on which it is installed. If you need to move
it to another directory or to another computer, follow the instructions
that will be found by clicking the Export License and Import License
buttons on the “KatchAll License and Configuration Information”
dialog.
WHERE
IS THE ARCHIVE BUILT?
KatchAll is designed for small network environments.
Enterprise archival software is server based. KatchAll supports
peer-to-peer networking. Files that are changed on any KatchAll
enabled computer in the network are archived on that computer.
You specify the location of a directory on your computer that
will be the root of a tree that mimics your computer’s file
system. The default location is C:\Archive, or it can be on an
external device such as a USB drive, etc.
RECOVERY
When a file needs restoration on an Enterprise System
the Information Technology (IT) Department is often called in
to assist in the recovery of a file – and maybe they have
a copy of the version you want. Often it can take them a few days
to restore the file.
KatchAll is tightly integrated with the Windows Explorer. A few
clicks in the Windows Explorer and a recovered file is created
in its original directory with the date/timestamp inserted into
the file name. The extension remains the same so you can use your
standard application programs to view the recovered file. Recovery
across the network is supported in the same manner as on an individual
computer.
THE KATCHALL USER INTERFACE:
Simply find the file you are interested in the browser,
right click the file and select Properties from the drop down
menu, select the KatchAll Archive tab on the dialog, and finally
select the version you want by it’s date and timestamp.
Double click the selection and the file is restored to the directory
with the time stamp embedded in the recovered version’s
filename.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
*Katchall runs on XP or later Microsoft Operating Systems.
Both Professional and Home versions are supported.
*Katchall is designed to work on peer-to-peer networks and standalone
computers.
*The storage requirement for the archive is proportional to the
number and size of the files in the archive. A copy of your previous
version is maintained in the archive as well as highly compressed
differences between other versions.
FREE EVALUATION and COPY PROTECTION
Katchall can be downloaded from this Web Site and used
in its entirety free for 30 days. This should give you the time
you need to evaluate this package and decide for yourself about
its utility. Once you have decided to buy the software you should
follow the simple instructions to buy the software online or you
may uninstall the software from your computer. After 30 days pass
the software is automatically disabled and will no longer function
for archiving or restoration of your files on your computer until
you purchase the software.
This policy does 2 things: 1) It gives you a fair chance to discover
if this software will be of value to you. 2) By copy protecting
the software we can limit piracy of the software and keep the
cost of the software at a fair and reasonable price.
